At 1st Honeydew Scout Group, we’re all about adventure, learning, and building a better world – one young person at a time. Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, we offer a vibrant and inclusive Scouting experience for children and teens aged 5 to 18 through our Meerkats (5–6), Cubs (7–10), and Scouts (11–18). Our group focuses on outdoor skills, leadership development, teamwork, and service to others. We create a safe and supportive space where young people can grow in confidence, character, and resilience. OUR DEN, PACK AND TROOP
MEERKATS: AGES 5-6 YEARS
Meerkats is the youngest branch of SCOUTS South Africa and caters specifically for children aged 5-6. Meerkats offers a fun program where children develop wonderful skills and build their character at the same time. The program we run is designed to be completed over two years.
CUBS: AGES 7-10 YEARS
At 1st Honeydew Scout Group, our Cubs learn new things, make new friends, and engage in activities that help people and protect nature. Play and sing together with friends, build things, and discover and explore new places.
SCOUTS: AGES 11-18 YEARS
Join the largest youth movement in the world, designed for boys and girls aged 11-17. Being a scout is about discovering new skills, challenging yourself, and contributing to your community. You’ll engage in thrilling outdoor activities, learn valuable life skills and develop leadership qualities.

WHAT ARE THE FEES?
The fee structure is a R540 per term and a once-off joining fee of R590. The joining fee covers all the new badges, Meerkat shirt, hat, scarf and woggle.
These amounts are not payable until a child gets invested. We encourage children to attend for 2-3 weeks so they can get used to us and see if they like it or not. If they decide to go ahead, we will invoice and they will go into uniform.
WHEN DO WE MEET?
We meet on a Tuesday afternoon, from 3-4pm.

The fee structure is R690 per term and an one off investiture fee of R350.00.
These amounts are not payable until a child gets invested. We encourage children to attend for 4-6 weeks so they can get used to us and see if they like it or not. If they decide to go ahead, we will invoice and they will go into uniform.
WHEN DO WE MEET?
We meet on a Saturday morning, from 9-11am.

WHAT ARE THE FEES?
The fee structure is R690 per term and an one off investiture fee of R350.00.
To help your child feel at ease, we invite them to attend for 3–5 weeks before any payment is needed. This gives them time to settle in, explore what we do, and decide if they’d like to continue. If they choose to be invested and become part of the 1st Honeydew family, we’ll then send an invoice and we can begin the quick and easy onboarding process.

We meet on a Friday evening, from 6:30-8:30pm.
